Cacao Huasi is a relaxed Caribbean restaurant and chocolate house in the center of Puerto Viejo, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Our kitchen brings together Caribbean and Asian influences, with fresh, flavorful dishes made for sharing and lingering over. You'll find vegetarian and vegan-friendly choices alongside jerk, seafood, house-made focaccia, fresh desserts and chocolate made with Costa Rican cacao.

Come for lunch after the beach, stop in for chocolate and coffee, or settle in later in the day as the light changes over the Caribbean.

Dinner & Evenings at Cacao Huasi

Late afternoon is one of our favorite times at the Huasi.

Our guided chocolate pairings take place toward the end of the day, and guests are welcome to stay afterwards for dinner, dessert and the evening atmosphere. On selected nights, there is live music or one of the community and cultural events that have become part of life here.
